Marlborough Forward Plan

 

The Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and the City of Marlborough have been working collaboratively on a Forward Plan to help guide future investments, land use decisions, economic development efforts, housing initiatives, and downtown improvements. Residents are encouraged to read the draft plan, learn more about the city’s vision for the future, and provide feedback to help shape Marlborough’s continued growth and development.

Dave's Hot Chicken Officially Opens in Marlborough! 
 

Dave’s Hot Chicken is now officially open in Marlborough at 651 Boston Post Road East, bringing its Nashville-style hot chicken to the area. The menu features chicken tenders, sliders, fries, shakes, and a range of spice levels. We stopped by to give it a try and it did not disappoint! 

Marlborough Downtown Pop-Up Shops!
 
The Marlborough Downtown Pop-Up Shops are open through December! Stop by and support these fantastic local vendors, makers, and creators as they expand their brands in our temporary storefronts.

BJ's Makes Record Donation to Support UMass Memorial's Marlborough Campus Expansion

 

Marlborough-based BJ’s Wholesale Club has made the largest donation in the history of UMass Memorial Medical Center’s Marlborough Campus, giving $500,000 through the BJ’s Charitable Foundation to support the renovation and expansion of the hospital’s emergency department. The project will nearly double emergency treatment capacity from 13 to 23 rooms, add two dedicated trauma rooms, and expand access to care for patients across Marlborough and the surrounding communities.

St. Mary’s Credit Union Invests in Marlborough Healthcare

 

St. Mary’s Credit Union is strengthening its commitment to the MetroWest community with a $125,000 gift to UMass Memorial Medical Center – Marlborough Campus. The five-year contribution will support the renovation and expansion of the hospital’s emergency department. Construction is underway, with the emergency department expected to be completed by the end of 2026 and the Specialty Care Center opening in early 2027.

Boston Scientific Prepares for Key Healthcare Conference and Q3 Results

 
Boston Scientific will participate in the Wells Fargo 21st Annual Healthcare Conference on September 10, where CEO Mike Mahoney and Chief Medical Officer Kenneth Stein will discuss the company’s business and outlook. The Marlborough-based medical technology leader will also report its third-quarter 2026 financial results on October 28, followed by a webcast featuring business highlights and financial updates.

Repligen to Present at Wells Fargo Healthcare Conference

 
Repligen Corporation will also participate in the Wells Fargo 21st Annual Healthcare Conference in Boston on September 9. CEO Olivier Loeillot and CFO Jason Garland will join an analyst-led discussion, highlighting the company’s bioprocessing business and technologies serving biopharmaceutical developers and CDMOs worldwide. 

Quantiphi Secures Patent for AI-Powered Document Processing

 
Marlborough-based AI company Quantiphi has been granted a U.S. patent for technology behind Dociphi, its intelligent document processing platform. The patented capability enables businesses to extract data from documents without relying on predefined templates, allowing the system to handle varied document formats more efficiently. The innovation is designed to help organizations automate document-heavy workflows, reduce manual data entry, and improve the speed and accuracy of information processing.

Quest Diagnostics Expands Alzheimer’s Blood Testing Portfolio

 
Quest Diagnostics plans to add Roche’s newly FDA-cleared Elecsys pTau217 blood test to its AD-Detect™ portfolio, expanding access to blood-based testing for Alzheimer’s disease pathology. The test is designed to help assess amyloid pathology in adults 55 and older experiencing cognitive decline, offering a less invasive alternative to traditional diagnostic approaches. Quest expects to make the test available nationwide to physicians and clinical-trial collaborators in Q4 2026.

TJX Reports Strong Q2 Results and Raises Full-Year Outlook

 
The TJX Companies reported stronger-than-expected second-quarter results, driven by solid comparable sales growth across several of its retail brands. The company also raised its full-year outlook and plans to accelerate store expansion, reflecting continued confidence in its off-price retail model. TJX remains focused on growing its global footprint while delivering value to consumers.

Raytheon Wins Major Tomahawk Production Contract

 
Raytheon, an RTX business, has secured a new multi-year contract to significantly expand production of Tomahawk cruise missiles for the U.S. Navy. The agreement will support increased manufacturing capacity and continued investment in Raytheon’s workforce, technology, facilities, and supply chain. The company is also working with suppliers across the country to scale production and meet growing demand from the U.S. and its allies.

Sumitomo Pharma Selected for JPX Prime 150 Index

 
Sumitomo Pharma has been selected for the first time for inclusion in the JPX Prime 150 Index, which recognizes leading Japanese companies based on measures of capital efficiency and long-term value creation. The selection highlights Sumitomo Pharma’s progress in strengthening its corporate value and commitment to sustainable growth. 
STATE AND REGIONAL UPDATES

MLSC Launches New Program to Support Life Sciences Expansion

 

The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) has launched Business Builds: Life Sciences, a new program designed to help life sciences companies establish or expand operations in Massachusetts, with a particular focus on biomanufacturing and advanced medtech manufacturing. The program offers $500,000 to $2 million in capital grants for facility buildouts, renovations, equipment, and infrastructure. Priority will be given to projects that deliver broader benefits to the state’s life sciences ecosystem, including workforce training, support for smaller local companies, and partnerships with nonprofits.

Massachusetts Invests $10M+ in Women’s Health Research

 

The Healey-Driscoll Administration and Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) have awarded more than $10 million to 33 projects aimed at advancing women’s health research and strengthening the state’s life sciences ecosystem. The investments are designed to address historically underfunded areas of women’s health, expand access to critical patient samples and data, and accelerate the development of new diagnostics and treatments across Massachusetts.

MWRTA Network Redsign to Launch September 8th
 
The MetroWest Regional Transit Authority (MWRTA) is rolling out a Network Redesign on September 8, bringing new routes and schedules designed to provide better connections and more convenient service throughout the region. The redesigned network will connect communities, transit hubs, workplaces, shopping centers, and other key destinations across MetroWest. The Marlborough Commuter Shuttle will now fall under its purview. Riders are encouraged to review the new routes and schedules ahead of the launch and plan for the transition. 

Business Builds Capital Grant Program

 

Massachusetts businesses looking to expand, relocate, or invest in their operations may be eligible for funding through the Business Builds Capital Grant Program. The program provides competitive capital reimbursement grants to support investments in facilities, equipment, infrastructure, and other eligible improvements. Businesses must provide a 50% match, and projects that create jobs and strengthen local economic development are encouraged to apply.

Mayor Submits Order to Council Progressing Fire Station Conversation

 

At the August 17th City Council meeting an order was requested by the Mayor authorizing the city to enter into an agreement to acquire the property at 40 Locke Drive as a future location for the West Side Fire Station. The Council referred the matter to the Finance Committee where the order was voted on favorably.

Marlborough Labor Day Festival and Parade
 
This year's festival will be on Sunday, September 6, 2026 from 12 PM – 5 PM along Main Street. Enjoy live music, local vendors, food trucks, bounce houses, a touch-a-truck exhibit, and so much more!
 
Following the festival the City of Marlborough is proud to host its 74th Annual Parade! Bring your festive spirit and come celebrate! The parade will take place Monday, September 7, 2026 beginning at 12 PM.
