MBVB 2026 Annual Tourism Summit and Legislative Breakfast
MEDC's Director of Business and Community Development, Lindsey Jaworek, was asked to speak as a panelist at the MetroWest Boston Visitors Bureau's 2026 Annual Tourism Summit and Legislative Breakfast. The conversation was focused on the Pop-Up Shops and the success they have seen in Downtown Marlborough. Lindsey spoke alongside Beth Reynolds and Cory Shea who have also worked closely with and supported small businesses, artists, and residents in their own communities.

2 Marlborough Firms Named Best Workplaces for Women
In the Nine Central Massachusetts firms named to Newsweek’s America’s Greatest Workplaces for Women 2026 list, two companies based in Marlborough were highlighted.
Both BJ’s Wholesale Club and Boston Scientific, were included among seven other Central Massachusetts firms honored for their commitment to advancing women in the workplace.

Hologic Gains FDA Approval for New HPV Screening Option
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Hologic's Aptima® HPV Assay for clinician-collected primary HPV screening, expanding its role in cervical cancer prevention. The test joins other guideline-recommended screening options to give health care providers more flexibility in how they screen for cervical cancer. The approval was supported by a large study of more than 650,000 women showing the test performs as well as existing DNA-based HPV tests for detecting high-grade cervical lesions.

Massachusetts Receives Final Approval to Enable Universal Broadband Coverage
Massachusetts has received final federal approval for an $18.8 million BEAD broadband grant to expand high-speed internet to every remaining underserved corner of the state. The funding, administered by the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative’s Broadband Institute, will help bring reliable broadband to 251 communities, more than 2,500 homes and businesses, and hundreds of local institutions, building on past state and federal efforts. Officials say this milestone moves Massachusetts closer to universal broadband access, supporting education, work, and economic opportunity for all residents.

MassDevelopment has announced $1.85 million in grants through its Biz-M-Power Grant Program to help 48 small businesses across Massachusetts grow and thrive. Free Sports Card and Pokemon Show
On March 8, the Big Free Admission Sports Card & Pokémon Show will take place from 10 AM to 6 PM at Solomon Pond Mall in Marlborough. The event features 157 vendor tables where attendees can buy, sell, and trade sports cards, Pokémon and other trading cards, memorabilia, and more. There will also be free autograph opportunities with special guests including former Boston Bruin Steve Kaper, Patriots three-time champion Patrick Pass, and Hockey Hall of Famer Marcel Dionne. |
