The 495/MetroWest Partnership Annual Conference
MEDC's Executive Director, Meredith Harris was asked to moderate this year's 495/MetroWest Partnership Annual Conference "Fireside Chat." The conversation was focused on Infrastructure to Support Growth and highlighted how strategic infrastructure investments are key to sustaining economic growth and strengthening the region.

International Delegation Visit to Sartorius Marlborough

Massachusetts Office of Business Development Visits
We were excited to welcome Peter Milano, Statewide Director for the Massachusetts Office of Business Development and Kevin Kuros, Regional Director, for the Massachusetts Office of Business Development for several company tours alongside the Mayor. We visited Cytiva, Boston Scientific, Qnity (formerly DuPont) and Repligen to learn more about how both the State and the local municipality can help assist large scale companies as they continue to grow and invest in our community.

Downtown Pop-Up Shops Wrap Up 2025 Season
The 2025 season for the Marlborough Downtown Pop-Up Shops has come to a close and we would like to thank all the vendors, shoppers, and our city partners for another fantastic year. The shops were open for 32 weeks straight and we welcomed 20 unique users.
We'll see you in May 2026!

Main Street Bank Announces New Leadership
Main Street Bank has announced two strategic leadership appointments as part of its succession planning ahead of the retirement of longtime Lending Executive, Ruth Cavanagh at the end of 2025. Craig Nardi has joined the bank as Senior Vice President of Retail Lending & Loan Servicing, while Jessica Royce has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Lending Officer.

Hologic’s AI Detects Breast Cancers Missed in Initial Reads
In a study of 7,500 screening exams, Hologic's AI-powered mammography technology flagged about one-third of cases that had been previously read as negative but were later diagnosed as breast cancer. The system also identified nearly 90% of cancers already detected by radiologists, highlighting how AI may enhance early detection and support radiologists in improving screening accuracy. |

Marlborough Hospital Proton Therapy Approved
UMass Memorial Health received unanimous approval to bring proton beam therapy, a cutting‑edge form of cancer treatment, to the Cancer Center at Marlborough Hospital, making it the first facility in Central Massachusetts to offer this advanced care locally. The $54 million project is expected to improve patient access, reduce travel to Boston for treatment, and enhance outcomes for people across the region. |

Lifeward Partners with Singapore Group to Distribute Exoskeleton in Three New Countries
Marlborough‑based Lifeward has partnered with a Singapore‑based healthcare group to distribute its ReWalk Personal Exoskeleton in Mexico, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates, significantly expanding its international footprint and patient reach.
Lifeward also recently named Bob Marshall as their new board chair. Marshall's financial leadership, expertise in healthcare public company, and strategic perspective were pivotal in his nomination. Congratulations! |

Healey-Driscoll Administration Launches Massachusetts Competitive Council
Governor Maura Healey convened the first meeting of the Massachusetts Competitiveness Council, bringing together leaders from business, labor, research, and government to shape the future of the Commonwealth’s economy.
Supported by the Executive Office of Economic Development, the Council will examine key issues such as innovation, talent, regulation, and taxation, and develop recommendations to help communities and businesses thrive across Massachusetts, with additional members set to join in the coming months.

8 New EDIP Projects Approved
The Economic Assistance Coordinating Council approved 8 Economic Development Incentive Program (EDIP) projects that will create 220 new jobs, retain 170 existing jobs, and leverage $36M+ in private investment across the Commonwealth. |

MOBD Launches "Business Builds" Program
The Massachusetts Office of Business Development has launched Business Builds, a new program designed to support business expansion and growth across Massachusetts. The program will provide reimbursement grants to eligible companies that commit to making qualified investments in facilities and operations in the state, helping job creation and strengthening local economies. Business Builds aims to boost business competitiveness and drive long-term economic development throughout the Commonwealth. |

Massachusetts Commits $20M+ to Advance Life Sciences Research
The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced more than $20 million in new life sciences funding to support research infrastructure, data science, and drug delivery projects across Massachusetts. The funding, awarded through the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, will help research institutions expand capabilities, accelerate innovation, and strengthen the state’s life sciences ecosystem. |

City of Marlborough Inauguration
On January 5th, the City of Marlborough swore in it's elected officials including the Mayor, City Councilors, and School Committee Members.
Following the ceremony at Whitcomb Middle School, the City Council elected their President and Vice President for the year 2026, Michael Ossing and Sean Navin respectively.

Marlborough City Council Sets Tax Rate for Fiscal Year 2026
The Marlborough City Council has approved the City’s tax rate for fiscal year 2026. The decision reflects careful consideration of the municipal budget, local economic conditions, and long-term financial stability for the Marlborough community. The City Council approved a split tax rate with a shift factor of 1.47, meaning the residential rate will be $10.54 and the commercial/industrial/personal property (CIP) rate will be $18.43.

WMCT-TV recently debuted a new live program called Community Connections where they recognize non-profits, charitable organizations, and community leaders making a difference in Marlborough, Massachusetts and beyond.
