Downtown Pop-Up Shops
 
The Marlborough Downtown Pop-Up Shops are open every Friday from 4-7pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am-3pm through December. Join us in supporting a rotating schedule of unique vendors, makers, and creators as they expand their brands downtown in temporary storefronts.

MEDC Board Member Honored For Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards
 
Luiz Thomaz DaCosta, Founder and CEO of Modular Concepts, was recognized by the Immigrant Learning Center as a 2025 Barry M. Portnoy Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards awardee. Watch the video below to learn more about Luiz's story, his hard work and dedication not only to his craft but also to our community. He is an extraordinary asset on our Board of Directors and we are so proud of his accomplishment. Congratulations, Luiz! 
RPM Shop & Mentoring Center Awarded Toolbox Grant
 
We are delighted to have been able to support RPM Shop & Mentoring Center, a local automotive garage geared towards mentoring young adults with a passion for motorsports and the racing industry, get up and running with a grant through the Marlborough Amenities Grant Program. Congratulations to the RPM team! 
 
 
Horribles Parade Success!
 
We had so much fun handing out candy with our friends from WMCT-TV at the Mayor's Annual Horribles Parade! We were very impressed by all the creative costumes and everyone's dedication to still show up in the rain!

Universal Window and Door Appoints New CEO
 

Jeff Reilly has been named Chief Executive Officer of Marlborough based manufacturing company Universal Window and Door. Reilly has years of experience in manufacturing, consumer goods and advisory services. He stated enthusiasm for building on the company's strong Massachusetts roots and driving future growth.

Innovation Academy Introduces $10K Scholarship for Marlborough Students

 

The New England Innovation Academy in Marlborough, a day and boarding school attracting 6th-12th grade students from domestic and international locations, has introduced a new, $10,000 annual tuition scholarship aimed at Marlborough residents entering 6th or 9th grade who plan to enroll at the school.

The merit-based award is designed to attract “curious innovators” from the Marlborough area and broaden access to the academy.

Boston Scientific to Purchase California Medtech for $533M

 

Boston Scientific, announced plans to acquire California-based Nalu Medical for approximately $533 million. Nalu develops a neurostimulation system to treat chronic pain using a small, battery-free implant controlled by an external device and smartphone app. The acquisition strengthens Boston Scientific’s pain management portfolio. They are expecting to complete the acquisition in the first half of 2026.

Hologic Has Agreed To Be Acquired by Blackstone and TPG in a Deal Valued At Up To $18.3 Billion

 
Two private-equity firms Blackstone and TPG Capital, will purchase Marlborough based life-sciences company Hologic marking a major transaction in the region’s life-science industry. Hologic's Chairman, President and CEO stated the transaction will help accelerate the company's growth and enhance their ability to deliver critical medical technologies to customers and patients around the world.

Quantiphi has been named an Emerging Leader in the 2025 Gartner Emerging Market Quadrant for Generative AI Consulting and Implementation Services. The recognition highlights the company’s growing role in helping businesses turn AI investments into real results through its GenAI solutions and technology partnerships.
Loop CO2 Highlighted in Massachusetts Innovation Network's 2025 Eddie Awards
 
At the 2025 Massachusetts Innovation Network's Eddies Showcase, 
Marlborough based Chemical Manufacturing Company Loop CO2 was recognized and represented by Co-founder Jimmy Chiu, sharing their vision for a sustainable future in the Clean Tech category alongside other outstanding innovators.

Repligen and IPG Splitting $5M in Tax Incentives Among 3 Others
 
Five life sciences companies in Central Massachusetts have been awarded a total of $5 million in tax incentives to support the creation of 245 new jobs in the region. Among these five are two Marlborough based companies; Repligen and IPG Photonics.
 
The funding is part of the state’s effort to strengthen the life sciences industry, provided through the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center’s Tax Incentive Program which is funded by the Healey-Driscoll Administration's Mass Leads Act, with the goal to support job growth and expand economic opportunities across the region.

Healey-Driscoll Administration Launches $23 Million Device Distribution Program to Address Digital Divide

 

The Healey-Driscoll Administration launched a $23 million Connected & Online Program to help close the digital divide in Massachusetts. The program will give out about 27,000 free laptops, tablets, and other devices to cities, schools, libraries, and nonprofits to make sure more residents have access to technology and online resources.

MLSC Announces $13M Towards Life Sciences Education and Workforce Development  

 
The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) announced more than $13 million in funding to strengthen life sciences education and workforce development across the state. The investment includes $3.3 million for public schools, helping schools upgrade life sciences teaching resources. Another $9.5 million will support colleges and nonprofit training organizations, and $300,000 will go to nonprofits offering out-of-school life sciences programs. The initiative aims to expand access to quality STEM education and build a more inclusive life sciences talent pipeline statewide.

Ames Village Overlay Proposal 
 

A public hearing was held on October 20th at the City Council meeting regarding a zoning proposal known as the "Ames Village Overlay" which would allow for the development of 90 condominiums at the corner of Ames and Forest Streets by special permit. The matter has been referred to The Urban Affairs Committee to be reviewed at an upcoming meeting.   
 

Taj Estates Mixed-Use Proposal for 163-175 Main Street
 
A public hearing was held on October 20th at the City Council meeting regarding a proposal to amend an existing special permit for a mixed-use project at 163-175 Main Street.
 
The new proponent, Taj Estates, has introduced several changes including lowering the height of the building, increasing the number of parking spaces and adding green space as an amenity. The matter has been referred to The Urban Affairs Committee to be reviewed at an upcoming meeting.

Illuminate Montessori Fall Fest and Parent Seminar
 
Illuminate Montessori is a new school in Marlborough that is currently seeking enrollment. This month they will be hosting a Fall Fest on November 8th with a bouncy house, raffle, fall crafts and games, snacks, and music!
 
They also have an upcoming Parent Seminar on November 12th for parents looking to learn more about Language Development. 

Flannel Fest at Lost Shoe

 
On November 15th Lost Shoe Brewing and Roasting Company will host their annual Flannel Fest with delicious cider donuts, a pie baking contest, food truck, cozy fire pit tables and more... 
 
The event will run from 12PM - 4 PM.
 
 
Turkey Trot for Tots 5k 
 
On November 23rd Lost Shoe will also be hosting their annual Turkey Trot which will be raising money for Toys for Tots. Make sure you register below to support this great cause. 
Holiday Stroll and Tree Lighting
 
Mark your calendars and make sure you join us for the annual Holiday Stroll and Tree Lighting ceremony on December 7th in downtown Marlborough starting at 1PM. Hosted by the Marlborough Downtown Village Association in collaboration with the Mayor's Office and Marlborough Recreation Department this event is always a hit, bringing shopping, tasting, sipping, face painting, family activities, a petting zoo and more to Main Street!
