MEDC Attends MassEcon Economic Impact Awards
MEDC attended the 21st MassEcon Economic Impact Awards at UMass Boston. The annual event brings together businesses, industry professionals, and communities from across Massachusetts to celebrate the Commonwealth’s economic successes over the past year.
Marlborough was proudly represented as Sartorius was named the Gold Mass Impact Award recipient for Massachusetts' Central Region and Moderna won the Summit Achievement Award.

The opening of the Marlborough Downtown Pop-Up Shops is Friday, May 2nd and MEDC is excited to share another fantastic season featuring local vendors, makers, and creators. Join us in supporting these small businesses as they expand their brands in our great temporary storefronts.

Classic Pizza 1 Receives Toolbox Grant Award
MEDC is happy to announce Classic Pizza 1 as a Toolbox Grant Award recipient through the Amenities Financing Program, which provides qualified Marlborough businesses, new and expanding, with rental and equipment expense reimbursement.
Classic Pizza 1 opened its Marlborough location in 1995 and recently expanded its restaurant by adding a new dining room and bar, along with upgrades to its existing kitchen space. |

Quantiphi Named to 2025 Tech Elite 250 List, Receives Google Cloud Awards
Congratulations to Quantiphi, a Marlborough-based AI-first digital engineering company, for being named to the 2025 Tech Elite 250 List by CRN.
U.S. and Canadian-based businesses are recognized annually for earning certifications and specializations that showcase their expertise in the AI, cloud, infrastructure, and security sectors.

Quantiphi was also recognized by Google Cloud in four categories of the Cloud Partners of the Year Awards. The Lodge in Marlborough was honored at the Greystar New England Annual Pillar Awards Ceremony, receiving a 2024 Kingsley Award for the complex’s positive resident experience.
Winners are selected based on how their facilities perform on the Kingsley Survey, a program used to measure prospect and resident satisfaction.

Lifeward Receives FDA Clearance For ReWalk 7 Exoskeleton
Marlborough-based Lifeward, a medical firm that develops technology to assist people with physical limitations and disabilities, announced that it has received 501(k) FDA clearance for the ReWalk 7.
The ReWalk 7 is a personal exoskeleton device that is worn by individuals with spinal cord injuries. The ReWalk 7 allows patients to stand and walk and will also feature new enhancements to the device.

Marlborough Breweries Named Among Best in Massachusetts
Three cheers for Marlborough's breweries! Flying Dreams Brewing Co., Lost Shoe Brewing and Roasting Company and Tackle Box Brewing Company were among the Top-100 best breweries in Massachusetts, according to a recent reader survey published by Boston.com.
Businesses were recognized for inviting atmospheres, dining options and of course, great-tasting beverages.

Marlborough-based J&J Machine Co. announced that it has rebranded to Bristol Precision. The machining firm specializes in manufacturing parts through the use of numerical control machines (CNC) for the medical, aerospace, and scientific sectors. |

Boston Scientific CFO, Executive Vice President Retires
Boston Scientific in Marlborough has announced that Dan Brennan, Executive Vice President and CFO of the medical device firm, will retire after 30 years with the company.
Jon Monson, Senior Vice President of Investor Relations, will succeed Brennan at the end of June. Monson has been with Boston Scientific for over 25 years. |

Marlborough-based ConnectedView, a software firm used by non-profit organizations, announced its recent acquisition of Faith Teams.
Based in Connecticut, Faith Teams is a software operator used by belief-based organizations to manage member engagement, volunteer scheduling and donations. |

Massachusetts Announces Redesign of Economic Development Incentive Program
The Healey-Driscoll Administration has announced plans to reform the Massachusetts Economic Development Incentive Program (EDIP). This initiative provides tax credits to businesses that commit to state investment as well as creating and maintaining jobs in Massachusetts.

Economic Development Secretary Hao Steps Down From Role With Massachusetts
Secretary Yvonne Hao of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Economic Development has stepped down from her role with the Commonwealth. Serving in the position since January 2023, Secretary Hao greatly contributed to the passing of the Mass Leads Act last year.
With the departure of Secretary Hao, Ashley Stolba, Undersecretary of Economic Foundations, is stepping in as Interim Secretary of Economic Development and Housing.

Public Hearing For Marlborough Hospital Expansion Special Permit Set for May 5
The special permit was referred to the Urban Affairs Committee for a public hearing on May 5. |

Public Hearing For Marijuana Testing Facility Scheduled for June 9
A special permit was submitted by Green Armory Laboratories Inc. at the April 28th City Council meeting to operate an independent marijuana testing facility at 260 Cedar Hill Street. The project will now go before the Urban Affairs Committee with a public hearing scheduled for June 9. |

Spring has officially arrived in Marlborough with the reopening of the Lake Williams Boardwalk for its second season.

Local Non-Profit Hosts 8th Annual Addiction Awareness 5K
Marlborough-based Team Sharing Inc. has announced it will be hosting its eighth annual Remembering Our Angels 5K on Saturday, May 10.
The annual event puts advocacy into action, raising awareness of addiction and showing support of individuals and families affected by the loss of loved ones.

Marlborough Historical Society Sells Bricks for Boyd Park
The Marlborough Historical Society is commissioning a statue of Samuel Boyd, known as "The Father of Marlborough", and inviting the public to purchase engraved bricks to be placed around the statue.
The statue will be located in Boyd Park at the corner of Main and South Bolton Streets, honoring Boyd's contributions to the city, including his ownership of "The Boyd and Cory Factory", the largest shoe factory in Marlborough. |
